This custom rug was designed in an unconventional shape, featuring a sweeping gradient that transitioned through four colors. The shape was refined to accommodate the swing of a nearby door, ensuring the rug would complement the space without interfering with how the door opened.

The colors and flowing “swoosh” effect went through multiple rounds of revisions as we worked with the client to refine the design and find the version they loved. Once produced, the finished rug made a striking statement in the space.

During installation, the rug pad was accidentally cut through the binding in several places. I traveled to the site and carefully repaired the damaged areas by hand. Once the repairs were complete, the binding was restored so seamlessly that the repairs were virtually impossible to see.
